Drilling For Life has been in the industry for well over 15 years with a vast range of experience from drilling to installations during which time over 500 boreholes having been drilled and over 1,000,000 livelihoods transformed all over Kenya.

Our Work

The Borehole Drilling and Equipping Process

This is a multi-stage process that involves several steps

  • Identifying the particular area/position in a plot or land to undertake the underground exploration. This involves site visit, and identifying the suitable accessible area.

  • Hydrogeological exploration- by use of hydrogeological gear/equipment, the geologist performs underground fracture tracing, where he/she identifies the availability of underground water, its ascertained and depth.

  • Licensing / Permits- during the hydrogeological exploration, the geologist is to be provided with the below documents.

    • Identification
    • Pin certificate (KRA)
    • Title deed
    • Consent

The geologist will then process the necessary authorizations and licenses to enable commencement of drilling works:

    • Water Resource Authority (WRA) authorization
    • Environmental Impact Assessment Report
    • Local County government permit
  • DRILLING – The drilling team/crew mobilizes to site and sets up the drilling equipment/rig and drills to the required depth by the geologist. The drilling crew secures the borehole after drilling by placing steel/PVC casings and gravel packs the borehole.

    • Test Pumping – This is a 24-hour test carried out to determine the actual yield of the borehole and enable right sizing of the pump. This is usually followed by water sample collection for testing of water quality – chemical and or bacteriological analysis usually done at the national government lab
  • PUMP INSTALLATION – Can either be solar powered pump or electric pump based on the consumer’s needs and capacities.

  • STORAGE – Can either be 6m, 9m or 12m elevated steel tower with one or 2 10,000litres tank or an elevated steel tower complete with a steel tank of 50m3 or 75m3 or 100m3. Storage can also be further customized to suite a client’s needs.

  • DISTRIBUTION – This is done in accordance with client’s or communities needs involving piping and installation of water points in community projects.

  • MAINTENENACE – This a post drilling and installation works service given to our clients. Usually free for the first year and thereby depends on nature of service such as replacement of pump, motors control panels or flushing of the borehole to curb siltation.

Our Mission

Our mission is to bring a hope for the future. To be a refuge for the poor and a refuge for the needy in his distress. To perform water well drilling and related water development projects to meet the physical, material and spiritual needs of the less fortunate people in the world who lack the basic need of clean drinking water.
